Our Mission

Who We're Here For

Welcome to Healing at the Core. This website seeks to help people better understand eating disorders and mental health.

Eating disorders (ED’s) are complicated mental illnesses that affect people of any age, gender, or background. Every person deserves to find healing, and true healing includes understanding what caused the eating disorder to develop in the first place.

This website contains recovery resources, education and research on ED’s and its connection to trauma and mental health. Another valuable addition on this site is personal testimonies about what it’s like to live with and heal from an ED. For loved ones, there are resources available to support you in your journey of caring for someone with an ED, along with testimonies from loved ones and mental health professionals.

About the Author

My Background & Why I Created This Site

Hi! I’m Lindsey, the author of Healing at the Core. I am a psychology student at the University of Washington, researching trauma and eating disorders. I am also a certified trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness teacher and bring these grounded, compassionate principles with me to this space. I plan to pursue a PhD in Child Clinical Psychology to help advance research on eating disorders, and work as a clinical psychologist supporting children and adolescents who have been exposed to trauma.

I experienced childhood trauma that impacted me developing Anorexia Nervosa in my early teen years. I am grateful for my support system and I acknowledge the privilege I had by being able to access treatment.

I have been recovered from my eating disorder for four years and I want to take what I’ve learned to help others find healing in their own lives. I created this website with the hope that it will help others feel less alone and supported in their healing journey.

Note: This site is not a replacement for professional medical or therapeutic care.
